Letter Writing night
Monday, Jan 28th, 7pm
Bushwakker's Pub (Dewdney and Cornwall; in the private function room downstairs)

Our group will be having our next letter writing night next Monday evening. At the heart of Amnesty International's work is our letter writing. We write to governments around the world to express our concerns about very serious human rights violations. Everyone is welcome to join us and also bring a friend and introduce them to Amnesty International's work. We'll have details of various situations and can give guidance to first-time letter writers.

Monday nights are also live Jazz nights at Bushwakkers - so if you want to enjoy some after the letter writing you will be at the right place.

Looking for a few good leaders...

At our AGM (see below), all members in attendance will be electing our leadership for the next year including the group President, Treasurer and the other members of the executive team. Do you have good ideas? Can you get things done? We need people like you to take a leadership role in our Amnesty International Group 91 (Regina). If you have questions about what that entails or if you recommend someone, then please email us.

This extent of segregation has been recognized by the current and former government of Slovakia who have made minimal commitments to address the issue ...

Canada: Call for Moratorium on use of Tasers
taserMany Canadians were outraged by video footage of the recent death in custody of Robert Dziekanski in Vancouver airport. In subduing the agitated man, police appear to have moved almost immediately to the use of Tasers without exhausting non-violent means. Amnesty International is concerned that Tasers continue to be deployed in Canada despite the lack of an independent and comprehensive study of their use and effects.
